Nature.

Deliver to us

Down the slippery slope

Of dreams and imaginings

Left to the winds above

Do we stay on a path

Unknown to us all

Do fly in the face

Often denied

Lift off our feet

To float in the air

Beyond what we thought

Beyond what we dare

No hate

No money

No war

No revenge

Just bliss and love

Until we wake from the dream.

Dreaming of waking.

spin in circles

a dance made for two

dizzying vertigo

stop and sway to and fro

imaginary symbols

of distance far away

squint too hard and

get a headache in the grey

all colours wash

from our pretty clothes

like drip dried petals

flying as the wind blows

spin faster to live

intoxicated by nonsense

breathing gets harder

the world seems more dense

fall down in laughter

let your back feel the dirt

breath in once more quickly

insanity’s such a flirt.

FALL Of man.

The wind is crisp

Like a cold hand on a warm day

Shivers down the spine

First day of colder days to come

People seem more rushed

Collars turned up against the cold

Or to shield themselves

From more than just the breeze

Less talk from the crowds

Less smiles against the changing leaves

It is the start of an end

Far away… but now in sight

The beauty in autumn

Sometimes lost in the pockets

Of heavier coats of armor

So begins another Fall of man.

Spinning.

The sky was once blue

The water was once clean

The rain…well…it didn’t burn

And there was grass, green grass.

I remember a thing called tree,

And wishing the summer days would last.

I remember the outdoor smell

Before the scent of grime.

I remember fish that swam,

Before the layer of oil.

I remember a world of light.

Before the world lost the fight.

Shed a tear

The end is near.

In silence

I sit in silence

let my eyes wander in reverence

across the sky looking for guidance

blue and cloud creating its own magnificence

My eyes wander again in silence

across the meadow of grass and violets

breeze on my face and nature’s incense

the world so immense

I sit in silence

in a sweet benevolence

I show my deference

smiling more than once

In silence.

Is It?

Is it too much to walk on a path of thorns

When the well-travelled road is like industrial porn

Is it wrong to refuse the shoes

When they were bought in endless queues

Is it okay to swim against the tide

Rather than accept they lied

Is it out of style to sing out loud

A different song sung by the crowd

Is it okay to be me

And remain myself and free

Is it wrong to want to be odd

When most worship the golden god

Is it too much for me to want more

Than what is churned out by the media whore

Is it okay to question the status quo

Than to drown while going with the flow.

Lean to the Right.

Lean toward the right

just a bit out of sight

feel my gaze search for you

in that shadow that is a bit new

if you lean toward the right

there is a chance I might

see you in that dark place

see the beauty left on your face

put away the fury of the past

step into the light at last

and let me see the you I know

don’t be afraid to finally show

the you that was once full of light

make the move to the right

end the long drawn out chase

accept the warm and tender grace

a shadow will fade away

along with the last of the grey

a smile shall shine through

and I will be with you.

A Canopy of Stars

She woke under a canopy of stars, each one blinking with as much surprise as she. Her hand touched the soft grass beneath her, a breeze caressed her face as it raced across the meadow. She sat up letting her eyes adjust to the dark. The moon was full and the sky clear. She was in a meadow surrounded by trees. It was as if mother nature had built a castle just for her. She heard some rustling now and then as small rabbits or frightened mice moved through the grass.

She looked down at herself and could barely make out a floral house coat. Not a robe but something more substantial. Her hair was dark in the moonlight and her hands seemed so much younger than she remembered. A noise across the meadow made her look up and a large stag broke through the treeline. He was huge and muscular. His crown of bone as long as he was tall. He was magnificent and she felt a tear roll down her cheek.
She stood up slowly. She didn’t want to spook the grand king of this wood. As she did the King moved toward her. He raced quickly from the wood to her in seconds, stopping five feet from her. She saw into his black eyes. They seemed as clear as the purest crystal. She kept still slowly reaching out her hand. To her surprise the King knelt before her and let her touch his proud nose. Her smile was a big as the swelling in her heart as she heard a soft voice somewhere far away.

In the white room the machines beeped and growled. Wires winding across the tiled floor to the single bed. Sitting on the bed was a young girl, no more than seven. She clutched onto a piece of paper that she held up to show the woman lying still beneath her.

“And see Nana. It’s so beautiful here and the King comes to say hi. He is a good King…so gentle. He will let you pat him and you won’t hurt anymore. I love you Nana.”

The girl lay back against the woman, still holding up the picture of a meadow, under stars, with the King standing proud.

Light of you.

Like a flicker in the night

your eyes seemed to sparkle

your smile seemed to shine

your skin glowed

your breath a ribbon of light

your hair like sun rays

your touch flashed lightning

and the dark was gone

no need to hide

no need to worry about monsters

no blindness for the sightless man

no whispers never heard

no tears drying in the sand

the light of you

made me soar.

I am Man

I am not a wise man

though I lean to the pretend.

I am not a strong man

though my face can scare at times.

I am not a rich man

but I am loved by those that care.

I am not a thin man

and I do not obsess on self.

I am not a violent man

in fact I prefer to make you laugh.

I am just a man

That sees himself

in a reality based on fact

I am a man

Like me or not

I will remain me, without an act.
